Ugh.. Loss. Loss sucks!
It all started with my best friend growing up. My phone rang early on Monday, September 21, 2015. It was my mom. I answered the phone. What I heard after I said Hello would change my life forever.
Michael Davis is dead. He was killed in a car accident.
I screamed and cried. What?! How could this happen to him? I was flooded with 30 years of memories. His smile
and his laugh. I remember thinking to myself, while my mom was still talking to me on the other end of the phone, I need to get to Ohio. And fast! I hung up on my mom and went to tell my husband. I woke my husband up with the news. I cried in his arms. My mom had asked me to tell my sister so I did pull myself together to do that. I went back to my husband and cried in his arms again. Immediately, I began to gather some clothes, so I can begin the drive back to Ohio. The next couple hours were the most confusing, horrifying hours of my life.
I made it to Ohio the following day. The whole ride back from the airport all I could think about was seeingMichael’s parents. His brothers. His son. My heart breaks for all involved.
Along with Michael, Frank, passed away too. The two of these guys were amazing. They would have went on to do amazing things.
Ahh… It’s so nice to be back. The first 9 months of Florida life hasn’t left much time for blogging. But I have found my way back!
So much has changed. There is so much to do here on a daily basis. I love it here!!
And so do my kids!
It’s almost been a month since we’ve been in Florida, and I’m excited and happy to report that WE LOVE IT!!
I’m so glad we decided to make this move. Not only is it beautiful, but the quality of life is better. I can’t wait to move into our permanent housing to have my own things, and get back to “normal”. Step 1: 24 day challenge. I can not wait!!
We returned to the beach yesterday as the kiddos begged all day. There was no sun!! We went to Indian Rocks Beach today instead of Clearwater because we were afraid the rain would come! It has rained pretty much non-stop since we’ve been here. Very random the locals say, but just our luck. We have managed to make the best of it though!
I said it before, and I will say it again, Kennedy found her happy place! She is all smiles when we are swimming in the ocean and playing in the sand.
The smiles continue…
Hunter. Hunter is happier at the pool. He does NOT like the salt water! I’m not sure that he knew to expect it. He did, however, find his very first sharks tooth!! This brought a smile to his face, and his smile brought a smile to my face! He is content digging in the sand on his quest to find more shark teeth!!
The beach.. The beach opens a whole new realm of OCD for me. Sand gets EVERYWHERE! No matter how much you sweep or vacuum- you will continue to find sand! The sand is a small price to pay to see the smiles on my faces during this adjustment period. I know that we made the right decision for our family!
We are here!!
After a very long month, my family is finally reunited! This makes me more happy than I could find words for. It took us about 21 hours, with many stops, but we are finally in Florida! Thank you AdvoCare for Slam and Spark to get me through the trip!
Once we got to the “cottage” we are staying at until we find a house we rested for a minute and then went sightseeing. My husband played tour guide- since he has been here for a month. We went to Clearwater beach first. The kids were so excited to look for shells and shark teeth.
The shells, as you can see, are in abundance! We are still on the hunt for shark teeth.. Kennedy has found her happy place.
After two different beaches we went to Target. Not very exciting, but something that had to be done. We finished off the night at Panera for dinner. We look forward to Day 1 tomorrow!
The BEST frozen treat if you’re trying to keep it healthy. I don’t have an exact recipe because I just threw stuff I had in the fridge into the blender. I wish I had some strawberries. So, anyway I froze some pineapple. Put the frozen pineapple, a fresh banana and some almond milk into the blender and BAM!! So yummy!!
And this is how my day starts. Everyday.
I found this recipe on Facebook and fell in love with it! We always have these protein bars in our fridge. They are super easy to make! They are also pretty light on your wallet!
1 cup of all natural peanut butter
1/2 cup of honey
3 cups of quick oatmeal
Optional: chia seeds, flax seeds, dark chocolate chips.
Line a 8×9 pan with tin foil. Then, in a pan, heat the honey and peanut butter. When it can be easily stirred mix in the oatmeal and any of your optional items. Move the mixture into the foil lined pan and press in. I try to make my bars about 1/3 inch thick. Throw them in the fridge for at least a half hour to let the bars get firm. Cut them into the size bars you want and ENJOY!!
It shouldn’t come as a surprise to you that I love AdvoCare! Although, I do my best to eat clean as much as I can. I do slip sometimes, I am only human. Every 3 months I do a Herbal cleanse. I love it! This cleanse is very “uneventful” and it will boost my energy, while making me feel great!! I get excited to start it every time!
This time around I picked the unflavored fiber drink. There is also citrus and peaches and cream. I picked unflavored because I can mix it right in my Spark, which also comes in different favors: grape, cherry, mango strawberry, fruit punch, green apple, mandarin orange and pink lemonade. All are simply put, amazing! Spark is known as “brain food”. It is a healthy source of energy without the crash. And then there’s the Catalyst. This is awesome. Catalyst helps to maintain muscle during workouts, and helps to repair muscle tissue. So, tomorrow is Day 1!
Hopefully I remember to check back and post my day 10 pictures!
